Deborah in Paris

Special guest post from Deborah Moore, CEO.

Eiffel Tower and Rue St. Honoré

Belts are often the accessory which is left behind, but it looks like they’re making an appearance for Autumn/Winter 2013. On my recent trip to Paris it was easy to see that designers have fully embraced belts and have been styling them throughout their collections. The window displays, along Rue Saint-Honoré, were full of beautiful belts and I was surprised are just how many there were.  It was also a bit daunting to see so much Winter clothing when it was 30°C outside!

Some of my personal favourites were from Prada and Gucci. Both designers have chosen large straps and buckles which work amazingly with the luxurious winter fabrics.

Gucci - Pre

Gucci – Pre have chosen a large rectangular buckle with a suede belt strap. This style is sharp yet complimentary to the knit and woollen fabrics. I also love that they’ve included gloves in their collection!

Prada

Prada featured a large oval buckle in silver with a wide leather brown belt strap. The thinner metal buckle allows the thick belt strap to really steal the show.

Overall, it was great to see that the belt is set to be a season staple for this coming season as they are a versatile and easy accessory to style. My tips, for choosing a belt this Autumn and Winter, are statement buckles, shiny hardware and thicker straps. Wear it on the waist for the look that has been all over the runway.
